Pixeon, one of Brazil’s leading health technology companies, has announced that it will join the Vela LatAm group, a division of the Canadian company Vela Software. The transaction, still subject to approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), strengthens Pixeon’s growth strategy by expanding its ability to deliver end-to-end digital solutions for hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers throughout Brazil and Latin America.
With more than 20 years of experience and over 3,000 healthcare institutions served across Brazil and Latin America, Pixeon has built a portfolio of solutions covering clinical care, diagnostic medicine, and patient engagement. Recently, the company launched the Pixeon +Saúde platform, focused on digital care management, and Pixeon BI Insights, a tool that functions as a command center for real-time decision-making. This trajectory aligns with Vela LatAm’s model of investing in companies with strong performance in strategic sectors, preserving their independence while expanding their sustainable growth potential.
For Vela LatAm, Pixeon’s integration reflects its philosophy of investing in strategic sectors while keeping the founders at the forefront of operations.
“We believe in supporting strategic companies like Pixeon in their growth journey, preserving their entrepreneurial culture, and enhancing their ability to innovate and transform the healthcare sector,” said Paulo Felipe Martins, CEO of Vela LatAm.
Following the completion of the transaction, Roberto Ribeiro da Cruz and Iomani Engelmann, the company’s founders, will assume the roles of Co-CEOs, reinforcing leadership continuity and the company’s entrepreneurial drive.
Pixeon: trajectory and position in the healthcare sector
Founded in 2003 in Florianópolis (SC), Pixeon has built a history marked by innovation and growth, consolidating itself as one of Brazil’s leading health technology companies, with a unique portfolio of solutions — RIS, PACS, LIS, HIS, and CIS — that position the company as a national reference in healthcare management and imaging diagnostics.
Currently, Pixeon operates throughout the national market, with solutions used by hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and diagnostic centers. Its product Pixeon Smart, considered the company’s most robust solution, is already used by hundreds of institutions. The PACS Aurora imaging system has been voted the best product in Latin America four times by KLAS Research and is present in countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, and Peru.
With a focus on continuous innovation, the company has invested in research and development, including artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, to support its clients in pursuing operational efficiency, enhanced patient experience, and financial sustainability.
“Our purpose is to transform healthcare through technology, helping our clients overcome structural challenges in the sector with efficiency, innovation, and real impact for millions of patients,” said Roberto Ribeiro da Cruz, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Pixeon.
The healthcare market in Brazil and the role of technology
The Brazilian healthcare sector is currently experiencing a period of pressure for efficiency, driven by rising care costs, medical inflation, and an aging population. Healthcare providers, hospitals, and clinics face increasingly narrow margins and are seeking digital solutions to ensure long-term sustainability.
In this context, technology has become a key element in enabling new care models, optimizing processes, and expanding patient access to quality services. Healthtechs such as Pixeon, with their integrated portfolio of solutions, have played a central role in the sector’s digital transformation — supporting both large hospital networks and regional clinics.
“The healthcare sector is going through a challenging moment, with rising costs and increasingly tight margins. Our commitment is to help clients face this scenario through digital solutions that bring efficiency, sustainability, and greater value to patients,” said Iomani Engelmann, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Pixeon.
The convergence between operational efficiency and patient engagement represents one of the main trends in the sector. By integrating clinical, administrative, and financial data, platforms such as Pixeon enable healthcare leaders to make real-time decisions and provide patients with a smoother experience throughout their healthcare journey.
